Tell us about your family: I grew up in a musical household. We all sang, often together on special occasions. Dad played the organ; Mom played the piano. All five children studied an instrument. The piano stayed with my sisters, not so much my brother. I played the violin but gave it up in high school. In college at UNT, I took voice lessons on a lark. When I had to perform at juries, the judges asked why I wasn't in the music school. Years later, I decided to study voice again and eventually ended up in ADC. I credit my father for my love of opera and my family for my love of singing.
Community involvement (ADC and beyond): Writing marketing materials for nonprofits. Mostly, Arts District Chorale is my community.
Interests and hobbies (outside of ADC): Art, art history, concerts, opera, film, reading, dogs, cats, and birds.
"Why I Sing with ADC": Music is always in my head. Singing is like breathing. Being part of a group of harmonized voices whose unified sound becomes a single instrument is exhilarating. Singing is life.
